The Women's Auxiliary Volunteers (WAV) is a registered charity that directly provides an extra dimension of care to SickKids patient families and also supports the clinical, research and learning endeavours of SickKids.

  • The organization has 220 active volunteers who work to provide direct support and raise funds to help support SickKids. In 2026, WAV proudly celebrated its 75th anniversary at the hospital.

  • WAV is a Grand Benefactor of SickKids Foundation, having raised over $20 million to support SickKids programs, care and services.
  • WAV owns and operates The 5Fifty5 Shop, a gift shop at SickKids. The net income from the Shop is used to fund Hospital approved projects.


  • The well known SickKids Bravery Beads program has been provided to SickKids patients for 25 years. This beloved program is funded by WAV and administered by WAV in partnership with the SickKids Child Life Department.
  • Over the past 25 years, WAV has funded five research chairs, totaling over $12 million.

Our mission

Women's Auxiliary Volunteers at SickKids are committed to improving children's well-being through compassionate patient and family interactions.

Through fundraising, we support the Hospital's clinical, research and leaming endeavors and moments that encourage children's smiles.
